On behalf of the Uniformed Sanitationmen’s Association, I want to express my sincere appreciation for being recognized as part of the 2026 Labor Power 100. This recognition is an honor, but I do not look at it as an individual achievement. It represents the strength, solidarity, and commitment of our entire union and, most importantly, the hardworking men and women of Local 831.
The labor movement has always been built on standing together. Our strength comes from our members who show up every day, do difficult and essential work, and stand united in protecting good jobs, fair wages, strong benefits, dignity, and respect in the workplace. As a labor organization, we will continue to fight for our members and their families. We will continue to stand up when our members need us, protect the benefits we have earned, and work to build a stronger future for the next generation of sanitation workers.
Our union is strong because our members are strong. Our voice is powerful because we stand together.
Thank you to City & State for this recognition and for highlighting the important work being done throughout New York’s labor movement. Most importantly, thank you to the members of Local 831 for your hard work, dedication, and continued solidarity.

Crispin passed away on August 20, 2026, and his memory remains with all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
