🚨✅ 20-Year Pension Benefit Restoration Passed! ✅🚨
Today marks a significant milestone for many members of USA Local 831. The restoration of the 20-Year Pension Benefit for eligible NYC Uniformed Sanitation Workers hired from April 2012 to the present has been included in the New York State Budget.
This victory was not achieved overnight. It is the result of years of persistence, advocacy, and the collective efforts of our membership. From rallies at City Hall and Union Hall, to meetings with elected officials, phone calls, emails, and member engagement, Local 831 never stopped fighting for what our members earned through their service and dedication.
We want to thank every member who stood with us throughout this process. Your participation, support, and solidarity helped make this moment possible. We also extend our appreciation to the legislators, labor leaders, and advocates who worked alongside us to bring this issue across the finish line.
⚠️ Important: Additional details regarding eligibility, implementation, timelines, and how this benefit restoration may impact individual members will be shared as soon as official guidance becomes available. We ask all members to stay tuned to Local 831’s official communications for updates.
This is a reminder of what can be accomplished when working people stand together with a common purpose.

This Memorial Day, USA Local 831 remembers and honors the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation, and we proudly recognize the men and women of Local 831 — past and present — who have answered the call to serve our country.
Many among our ranks have worn two uniforms: one in defense of our nation and one in service to New York City. Their dedication, courage, and commitment represent the very best of what service means.
Today, we stand together in remembrance, gratitude, and respect for all who served and for those who gave everything so that we may continue to enjoy the freedoms we hold dear. 🇺🇸
Their sacrifice. Our freedom. Forever in our hearts.
